At the time this film was made, Pan American World Airways was nearing a half-century of operation. The Boeing 747 was now well-established as the airline's principal passenger transport on major routes, and those routes covered the world, which is point of this dynamic whirlwind tour of some of the destinations served by Pan Am.

The film holds up with time, avoiding a typically dry style of narration and music in favor of letting the people, sights, and sounds of globally-diverse places on Pan Am's routes tell the story themselves.
